Debut full-length studio album by the legendary American Hard Rock band.
Featuring members of the defunct bands such as Heavy Metal also-rans Buster Brown and AOR supernova Stone Fury, Kingdom Come may have a short history in the memories of the masses, but that short history is an infamous one as they were immediately cast as Led Zeppelin clones. With an audience hungry for the Hard Rocking kings of the '70s, a disc billed that way was guaranteed to sell some copies. In fact, their debut's high sales may have been based on people's thoughts that Led Zeppelin had actually reunited once the single "Get It On" was heard on radio as the band did bear a striking resemblance to the mighty Rock gods. And, despite Lenny Wolf's obvious German accent, he did sound very much like Robert Plant, while guitarist Danny Stag's tone was nearly the exact same one as Jimmy Page.
Of course, while the band will never quite receive whatever respect they may deserve due to their clone status, their debut is still a great slice of Hard Rock. The band's first single, "Get It On," was a big enough hit on AOR stations (most requested song for 6 weeks), that the band's eponymous debut went Gold the day it was shipped (610,000 units sold). Their second single/video for the power ballad "What Love Can Be" received much airplay on US radio and MTV.
By the time the single/video "Loving You" was released, the album had sold to Platinum status in the United States, Germany and Canada, among other music markets. The album reached Number 12 on the U.S. Billboard 200. The band was chosen to open for the North American Monsters of Rock Tour 1988, supporting Dokken, Scorpions, Metallica and Van Halen. Following that, they were tapped to support Scorpions on their North American Savage Amusement Tour.
